The SOAK Halyard Clip ensures that your spinnaker will not launch itself while sailing upwind and that the halyard will not get in the way during tacks and maneuvers. The Halyard Clip automatically releases during a spinnaker hoist so you do not have to remember to un-clip it.
"I first used the Halyard Clip at the Texas Lightning Districts in Houston. It was great! Not only did it work as described by Andrew, but it allowed us to go into the top mark with one less item on our mental check list. Fantastic innovation!" Skip Dieball, 2009 US SAILING Championship of Champions winner
Overview The Halyard Clip ensures that your spinnaker will not launch itself while sailing upwind and that the halyard will not get in the way during tacks and maneuvers. It automatically releases during a spinnaker hoist so you do not have to remember to un-clip it. Just tie it where you need it. Installation Tie the SOAK Halyard Clip to the boat in the location where you want the spinnaker halyard to run. Experiment with several locations to find the spot that is most suitable to your boat and its rigging.
To secure the halyard: To release the halyard: The SOAK Halyard Clip will automatically release when you pull on the halyard as you would during a normal spinnaker hoist. On some boats, it may be beneficial for the bow or mast crew to give a quick tug on the halyard to release the clip prior to hoisting the spinnaker. This technique ensures the clip will not get in the way when pre-feeding, etc. Other uses for the Halyard Clip
